Cement

Cement is the main binding material used in concrete and construction works. It is manufactured from raw materials like limestone, clay, sand and gypsum through an 8-step industrial process that turns raw meal into clinker and finally into the fine powder used at site.

Cement

Main raw materials

  • Limestone (calcium source)
  • Clay / Shale
  • Sand
  • Iron ore
  • Gypsum
  • Fly ash / Slag (for blended cement)

8-step manufacturing process

  • 1. Quarrying & Mining — limestone and clay extracted by drilling/blasting
  • 2. Crushing — large rocks broken down for easy handling
  • 3. Raw material grinding & mixing — ball mill / VRM produces raw meal
  • 4. Preheating — raw meal passes through preheater tower
  • 5. Kiln process — raw meal enters rotary kiln (~1450°C) forming clinker
  • 6. Clinker cooling — heat recovered, efficiency improved
  • 7. Cement grinding — clinker + gypsum (+ fly ash / slag) ground to fine powder
  • 8. Storage & packing — 50 kg bags, jumbo bags or bulk tankers
